Bahrain Insurance Association’s Medical Committee organized the “Healthcare Insurance Conference” under the patronage of Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, at the Westin Bahrain City Centre, under the theme “Balancing Sustainable Healthcare Insurance Pricing and Claims Management”.
Mr. Younis Jamal AlSayed, Chief Executive of Takaful International and BIA board member welcomed the audience and said that this conference will discuss healthcare insurance related matters, most importantly claims management and ways to counter fraud, addressing the challenges of the huge volume of technical data for health insurance claims and pricing policies where the conference provides an opportunity to exchange experiences between stakeholders and experts in health insurance in the Kingdom.
Then, Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health presented the National Health Plan project which aims to improve the quality and efficiency of health services. The system will provide the comprehensive treatment of all patients of citizens and residents of Bahrain, stressing that the public and private sector will be the service providers, and this system will contribute to the promotion of investments in the private health sector. He expressed that patronizing this event stemmed from the belief of the Supreme Council of Health in its duty to support and develop the health insurance sector in the Kingdom and work to promote and contribute to the development of health services.
The conference also hosted Mr. Hatem Maskawala of Badri Management Consultancy, who spoke about addressing the challenges of the size of the huge technical data for claims of health insurance and was followed by Mr. Jens Sonnenschein of SCOR Global Life, where he focused on pricing health insurance policies. And at the end of the conference Mr. Tariq Salibi from Globe Med presented a paper on claims management and ways to counter fraud.
Mr. Younis Jamal Al Sayed stated: “that this conference comes within the framework of joint cooperation between the BIA and the Supreme Council of Health to provide the best services in the Kingdom and which will work together in order to find appropriate solutions to overcome the challenges facing health insurance in Bahrain.
